Great Palm Tree Massacre of 2009

We’ve had this palm tree for quite a few years now, one of the only plants that survived the trip down from SF, then the year we lived in that dank dungeon of an apartment here in LA. But alas, all though it made it through all that, it could not survive a few hours alone with Little Miss Toki Wartooth. Oh well…

Lauren Got a Fish

Lauren’s been wanting a fish for some time now, so I finally gave in and bought her a fish tank. Right now we only have a Betta, but once the tank has climatized itself I’m thinking of adding a few schooling Endlers or Neon Tetras and maybe a small Otocinclus.

Cradle of Filth at the Henry Fonda

Last Wednesday we went to see Cradle of Filth at the Henry Fonda. It’s always kind of surreal seeing two concerts with completely different crowds at the same venue less than a week apart. CoF put on a pretty decent show, not the best performance I’ve seen from them, but overall they were pretty good. All I have to say is that Dani seems to be getting old and is starting to lose his voice…

NoFX at the Henry Fonda

So NoFX is one of those bands that I will go see whenever they are having a show, for however long they decide to keep touring. I mean this was their 25 year anniversary tour and I honestly couldn’t tell you which show this has been for me, there have been so many. I still remember picking up my first NoFX album, I was in 7th grade and I went to the record store with my buddy James Powell. I was originally looking for bands I liked off the first Punk-O-Rama compilation, I remember SNFU was at the top of my list… However, the record store was seriously lacking and the only album off that compilation the store had was “White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean” and I’ve been a hooked ever since…
So anyways, what makes a NoFX show so entertaining is that you never know what’s going to happen, not only are the guys extremely talented musicians but they are also funny as hell. So it’s like a concert and comedy show all rolled into one. I would have to say that the highlight of last nights show would have to be this fat kid with a rainbow mohawk in the audience… Fat Mike just kept ripping on him, but the kid kept insisting that he could play “Linoleum.” So eventually they pulled him up on stage so he could prove himself. Turns out the kid could play, and I swear it was probably the best damn performance of “Linoleum” I’ve ever seen, I think the guys we’re about as blown away as the rest of us… Good times.
